As the first quarter of 2021 has come to a close, we at Sensor Tower have taken a deep dive into the performance of the top social networking applications on the iOS platform in the United Kingdom. Our analysis has revealed intriguing trends in user engagement and app popularity.

Starting with WhatsApp Messenger, the app saw a fluctuation in weekly revenue, with a peak at $80K in the week of March 15. Downloads for the app started at 179K in the last week of December 2020 and climbed to a high of 220K by the end of March 2021. The weekly active users showed a slight upward trend from around 28M to over 29M during the quarter.

Facebook demonstrated a more consistent revenue stream, ranging from around $79K to $105K weekly, with an upswing to $102K in the last week of March. The app's downloads dipped in early January to 75K but recovered to 91K by the end of March. Active users remained stable, with a slight decrease from 18.5M to 18.4M.

For Messenger, without revenue to report, we observed that downloads started at 82K in late December and saw an increase to 76K by late March. The weekly active user count for Messenger saw a rise from 11.2M to nearly 11.6M by the quarter's end.

The app Discord - Chat, Talk & Hangout experienced revenue figures ranging from $47K to $68K, with a notable jump to $68K in the final week of March. The app's downloads showed a peak of 68K in mid-January, followed by a slight decline to 53K by the end of March. Active users increased steadily from 1.6M to nearly 2M during the quarter.

Lastly, Telegram Messenger saw its downloads surge from 20K to a peak of 90K in mid-January, before settling at around 28K by the end of March. The active user base grew from 647K to over 930K in mid-March, before a slight drop to around 897K.
